What if my U.S. citizen parent never applied for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) for me?

A: If your parents never applied for a CRBA for you, you may still be a U.S. citizen. A CRBA provides one way to document citizenship, but you don’t need it to confirm citizenship status. You can apply for a U.S. passport or Certificate of Citizenship if you meet the eligibility requirements for citizenship at birth.
