What happened to the 2019 Proposed Rule?

Another Barrier Eliminated: Today, the DHS withdrew “The affidavit of support proposed rule”, which would have made the process of sponsoring an individual for permant residence not only more burdensome, but also more expensive. Applicants would have been required to provide additional evidence such as tax returns, credit reports, and banking records. The withdrawal of the rule was in alignment with the Biden’s Administration’s mission of eliminating several barriers in terms of gaining citizenship.
